Greetings all...
Another newbie here...new to 928s but not Porsche. Those of you that attended Hershey may remember a really nice 1985 S in blue over olive (or granite green...not sure of the color) in the for-sale area. After chatting with the sellers (who are very nice folks!) I decided to take the plunge and buy a 34-year-old Porsche without a PPI !! I collected it this past Thursday and trailered it from the Scranton, PA area to my home in Towson, MD.
I also got some goodies with the deal...
The story is that the car sat for 20 years in a heated garage. It appears to have been well-stored. It shows 31,xxx miles and looks like an all-original paint survivor. Nothing on the car is inconsistent with the mileage indicated on the odometer. I'll get a paint meter on it soon. The seller learned of the car from a friend. I think it was sold out of an estate situation. The seller is a muscle car guy so although he found the car interesting it was never going to be a keeper for him. He did a timing belt, tensioner, water pump, fuel injectors/pump/pressure regulator, crankshaft sensor, tires, and brake work. He put 35 miles on it!
Known issues as of now are a sunroof problem and dead radio that can wait, a left combination gauge (temp and fuel quantity) not working, a coolant light, a belt ten light if I rev to about 4000rpm (light goes away after a re-start), and a high idle that sometimes wanders up and down after start.
I have put about 125 miles on it and must say I really like it! Totally different from my 88 Carrera and 70 914-6. Any help with my "issues" is
greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lee
